Hi, i'm a high school student going into my senior year in the fall Pumpkin (september). I am interested in going into an art school for university Registered User after graduation, and just wondering, how long does making an art Joined: Saturday, 8th of May 2010, 17:16:04 portfolio take? for uni? l just keep feeling like l do not have Posts: 192 enough time to make one up (10-15 pieces of art work) and, does it Viewed 12032 times really have to have a lot of variety? l do art mostly on paper
(drawing, painting, etc). l do not usually do sculptures or.. 3-D art,
graphic, and the whole works. The websites say you have to do a
variety. what exactly does that mean? Can l just do a bunch of
drawings and paintings in diff medias (water color, oil, acrylic, pastel,
charcoal, etc), or is that not enough variety? Do l need more diversity
(and make for example, 3-D art?) thank you for your contribution! />l really need your help! ok.. but my main question is, how long
does it take to make?

Hi, jigglybum<3 Registered User I live in Lisbon & although I've never went to an art school, I am aware Joined: Saturday, 5th of June 2010, 18:53:51 that the realities between both countries are quite different, namely in Posts: 143 terms of resources. Viewed 13359 times I've noticed that when visiting some websites of art schools, namely the
Parsons (I guess I wrote the name correctly), or The Art Students League
in NY, often they will have some guidance in what portfolios are
concerned.
Nonetheless, there is a website that I often indicate :
http://artbusiness.com/artists.html
Explore it carefuly & I am sure that you will find some great info.
Good luck !
Kind regards,

For a portfolio, ignore ''variety'' & put ur best work in it. Girl scout Honestly portfolio reviewers like variety because it shows that you're Registered User versatile. BUT ur best comes first. If you make something you aren't used Joined: Friday, 23rd of April 2010, 17:07:11 to but it is not as good as what you like to do, put the better piece in Posts: 980 ur portfolio. Depending on the pieces, 10-15 sounds about right for a Viewed 9456 times university entry.
Drawing & painting are the bases for 3-D art & other stuff. It is THE most
important. It is the foundation. Don't worry if you don't have that stuff.
There is a lot a factors that decide how long it will take to put it
together. It takes as long to make as it takes you to put ur things
together or make new things to add to it. How much of ur day to you want
to devote to it? Are you going to add anything new? If you don't want to
make anything new to add & only use the things you already have, you could
have the whole thing together in a few days. Don't assume it will take you
say, 3 days & wait until that is all the time you have. Don't
procrastinate over it. Just start working on it & it will come together.
